Dark and disturbing but also very compelling. I had only seen Joanne Froggatt in Downton Abbey prior to this, and the roles couldn't be any more different, but her performance as Mary Ann Cotton is incredible! She manages to be sympathetic early on and then convey Mary's increasing addiction to death."
