"π7.75/10π ESCAPE AT DANNEMORA is pretty much βNever a dull moment!β π
This intense, #character_driven limited series is based on a #truestory, and while there are already plenty of great reviews here, itβs worth noting just how #gritty and #suspenseful this (probably embellished) dramatization is.
The show blends #drama with #darkhumor, exploring the bleakness of #prison_life (and the struggles of living in an isolated, low-opportunity small town), along with the #sleazy #sexual escapades of its three protagonists (played to perfection by Patricia Arquette, Paul Dano, and Benicio del Toro). While delving into their #character_flaws and moral ambiguity, youβll definitely have fun judging these messy characters! π€

"For anyone into prison dramas, this series directed by Ben Stiller is most definitely a MUST SEE. It was RIVETING throughout. I recall when this actually happened, and much of it matched what had actually occurred as well as the main actors resembled the actual individuals really well I thought. After viewing the series, I located an article with side-by-side pictures of both the actual people and actors playing their parts and I could see good resemblances. There was not one single boring moment out of all 8 episodes. Benicio Del Toro is GREAT at playing parts such as this!! I read that Patricia Arquette gained weight for the role, and Paul Dano added 20 lbs of muscle to his frame for the role. ALL of the actors were just absolutely terrific in their roles, including the smaller parts played by Bonnie Hunt and Michael Imperioli. Even Ben Stiller's older sister, Amy Stiller, had a part in this series. I read that many of the law enforcement officers and personnel in this series were portrayed by the actual individuals involved in the real events. I had this on my list of shows I wanted to watch for some time but had forgotten about it until @miaparker's great review jogged my memory. Figured it would be good, but not THIS good!!!!"
"This show is completely underrated in my opinion. So good!! Patricia Arquette, Paul Dano, Del Toro AND directed by Ben Stiller. Stacked. Fun fact: friends and I were camping in Upstate, NY when this happened and we made an entire event out of it so itβs pretty cool to see this show portraying how everything went down. "
