"This’s a film about Emily Dickinson as a poet and daughter. It explores a girl’s struggle to become somebody while living with a father who cannot see her that way. This particular aspect of her life is emphasised throughout the film and it’s tragic. The way he’s far more concerned with promoting his image as a progressive rather than actually *being* that in his home life with his daughters is truly excruciating. Her only brother, Austen, is so soft and sweet yet so unappreciated I felt sorry for him most of the time. This series is by far my favourite and if you have not watched it yet, you should do so (and don’t thank me, I’ll be happy you just did 😉)."
"Funny with a lot of dry, inappropriate humor. "
