"I watched the entire series & just couldn’t connect with any of it or any of the characters except for the nice relationship formed between Jeevan & young Kirsten in the first 3 episodes. Arthur & Miranda’s relationship was interesting. But, yeah, too slow-moving for me & I’m not a huge fan of dystopian SciFi."
"⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is a really really good show. I would love to say a great show but it didn’t take me quite that far. Not to say it’s not extraordinary in its own way!
I’ve been over the dystopian, post apocalyptic, pandemic etc etc trope for awhile now. TWD was a favorite up to maybe season 8, but started to feel too much like a death cult…there’s only so much face eating and head bashing with a barbed wire encased bat I can take.
This is a gentler take where survivors move on and live the best they can, and art isn’t abandoned. In fact it’s celebrated because once the power goes out where are you going to get your entertainment if not for live performance. Unlike our pandemic this one takes us back pre-technology to the days of wandering minstrels and traveling theater. Shakespeare is LIFE and everything IS art because art not only shows us who we are but creativity itself is what makes a new world.
Which isn’t to say there isn’t danger because, well..people. But they are just that, nothing supernatural and no one as brutal as Neegan thank god.
Still it is definitely tense and suspenseful but also dramatic and moving. Plenty of flashbacks of the before, which are done captivatingly well, set up most of the drama of the after. It seems a little disparate and lost for a bit but everything beautifully comes back around with the last few episodes. This show is really about how we are all interconnected and how loss, death informs life.
If you are thinking at all about watching, give it a few episodes before deciding how you feel. It’s enigmatic, slower, more thoughtful but also singular in its approach and kind of astounding. "
"Btw my family & I lived through Hurricane Hugo in September of 1989 here in Charleston SC so this was interesting for that reason. We even had the NBC news crew (the hurricane chasers) staying with us & broadcasting live from our living room!"

"In my humble opinion this show is overrated. I forced myself to finish it only to see what all the fuss is about. Still don’t know. It starts strong and interesting, but than gets muddled and boring in the middle and eventually turns into melodrama. It had a potential that was not realized. I don’t even want to read the book it’s based on. "
