Musashino, Tokyo. An elementary schooler repeatedly attacks people in the streets. Known only to the public as "Lil Slugger", none of the victims can recall the young boy's face and only three distinct details are left in their memories: golden inline skates, a baseball cap, and the weapon: a bent golden baseball bat. Detectives Ikari and Maniwa set out to track down the perpetrator and put an end to his crimes.

"Fantastic anime. And the theme song is so good. "

"When in expecting something like The Prisoner (1967), was absolutely correct but not in the ways I expected. Emotionally elegant well worth the effort. I even recommend the dub. The flow is intense, amazing use of animation as the medium. Could watch it all in one sitting but I recommend taking a weekend or more to finish it. Good entry point for Satoshi Kon's work, although more blunt. "
"I got bullied into watching this one, but I'm glad that I was. This was really when I fell head over heels for Satoshi Kon's work. It's difficult, beautiful, and one of those anime you should slow down and savor. The imagery in it has stuck with me since I last watched it and I am definitely due for a rewatch. "
