"That’s it? This is the story? The hype? Come on. Complete let down by Nicole Kidman not to mention some annoying characters not well played either. Very disappointing "

"My favorite episode, which felt like a total shift in themes from the rest of the series, was episode 5. It really showed the grit and behind-the-scenes of the lives of many different individuals, the workers, the doers, the cleaners most notably. It showed their humanity, the way gossip travels, and how they connect to the world and those around them.
This story ultimately revolves around the wealthy and their excessive privilege until tragedy strikes and a little boy goes missing in action at a crowded market. The painful fall-out and lingering questions don’t stop for anything as no sense of closure ever comes. Margaret, the mother of the boy that goes missing, goes through such an emotional journey of profound, deep magnitudes. She becomes unmoored and desperate for answers. She acts out and loses her mind with grief. And that part was resoundingly well-done, while other parts of the series floundered to stay afloat with some questionable sequences and unlikeable characters. Still worth a watch though! "
"It seemed as an ambitious project and was interesting at times, especially the parts about Americans living in Hong Kong, other than that I can’t figure out for the life of me what was the point of the show. So many issues touched but non really worked through. I watched the whole thing hoping for some kind of theme to really crystalize, didn’t happen."
"Definitely something had to have been lost in translation here. Why did I keep watching hoping it would get better???"
