"Strangely fun. The 1st episode I had to force myself to finish, but I'm loving the rest of the show. Specifically, the second season is where I enjoy it the most. In fact, the beginning is hard to get through.
It's not that the 1st troupe was bad, but compared to the rest, it's kind of basic. Truly, the 2nd season is when the show begins to truly shine, because the obstacle they face is something that's been building up since the 1st episode.
Meanwhile, the 1st season was just seeing them reinvent themselves & make their show a hit. Which isn't bad, but you knew it would happen. The intrigue & creative twists kept you invested. That's the only reason I kept watching.
Now for the dub v sub. I watched it subbed at first. It was good enough to keep my full attention when I read the subtitles, so that's something. Plus, I think the voice actors were overall better & matched the characters more than the dub. The dub had a very off-putting deep voice for Sakuya, the one who opens the show. It might not be jarring for first watchers, but for someone who knows how that character progresses & his personality, it just didn't quite match up with him. I never cared much for the sub one either since his voice seemed pitchy all the time. (They don't sing. That's just the best description I could think of). But I really didn't think that low voice matched him well at all. Yuki was also one I thought had too deep a voice. That's only because I knew he'd play a girl in the play, so that threw me off. I think he did good being a girl in the play, but they could've made it a tad easier and gotten a tenor male voice.
Still great, and now that they finally have a dub, I can put the show on in the background. Plus, I like how every boy doesn't drop to his knees for the girl, which is just dumb & annoying. I want more already."
