What a scoundrel wants, a scoundrel gets. . . A decade ago, the Marquess of Bourne was cast from society with nothing but his title. Now a partner in London's most exclusive gaming hell, the cold, ruthless Bourne will do whatever it takes to regain his inheritance—including marrying perfect, proper Lady Penelope Marbury.A broken engagement and years of disappointing courtships have left Penelope with little interest in a quiet, comfortable marriage, and a longing for something more. How lucky that her new husband has access to an unexplored world of pleasures.Bourne may be a prince of London's illicit underworld, but he vows to keep Penelope untouched by its wickedness—a challenge indeed as the lady discovers her own desires, and her willingness to wager anything for them . . . .even her heart.

"I have mixed feelings about this romance--I liked the beginning and was really engaged, then hated how they got together and really had to push myself to keep reading but then the last 1/4 or maybe a bit more than that I got interested again. A lot of my issues are really just typical romance tropes: bad guy who is good at heart; a whole beauty/beast dynamic (or Persephone/Hades as referenced in the book); neither of them being honest with each other about their true feelings; both think they're not deserving of the other--all get tiring after awhile. However, I enjoyed MacLean's writing and did feel the characters were complex and interesting."
"Such a great read. Well written and very sexy. What a wonderful way to pass the day."

"I fell in love with this book so terribly that I am not really sure what happened. I enjoyed the fact that this was a true Hades and Persephone retelling. The characters all seemed to breathe on their own and were so different from one another. I never felt myself zoning out while reading and was engaged all the way through.

Overall this is my favorite romance novel I have read so far and I will definitely be reading the sequels in the series because I can not wait to expand upon the family."
