"Funny and charming, but at times a tinny bit predictable. I liked that the author didn’t solve Ransom’s blindness; I have seen in other books where an illness or injury is miraculously cured, which I personally find distasteful.

As a side note: I was hoping to get more of Ransom’s dog Magnus and Izzy’s ferret Snowdrip involved in the plot because I think it would have added even more hilarity to the proceedings."
"Good but no strong feelings about this one "

"My first proper Tessa Dare book! I read part of Any Duchess Will Do and while that was also wonderful I didn't finish it because I was looking for something different in terms character archetypes. And this book totally gave me what I'd wished for! I was hooked from the very start which is something because I can get bored of books so easily. And it helped that the setting of this particular one is so unique. I love medieval castles quite a lot and the exploration of this one was SO fun! I didn't quite read the description properly and didn't know what to expect. Literally just started reading because I knew the hero would be a grump and blond. Surprisingly, I found the main characters so relatable!!

The strength of the story is definitely how comedic and erotic her work is! I loved the crude vulgar jokes so much, they were present in Any Duchess Will Do as well so I knew this would be fun. The setup of every erotic scene is so so sensual and enticing that was one of my favorite things. And this book seemed to be filled with sensual scenes.

I liked Ransom more than I thought I would, especially because he's such a grump and in denial of his feelings. He's actually so sweet and doting I immediately took a liking to him. His humor is super fun too and the banter he shares with Izzy is adorable. I love that it was acknowledged he calls himself an ass but he's capable of more chivalry than he may think.

Izzy is so relatable !!! Much more than I thought she would be too. Her not being able to grow up because of other people's perceptions and expectations was so personal to me. She truly bloomed with the story though I realized she'd honestly always been a grown up since she was a child. Her quirky way of dealing with Ransom was so cute. She was stubborn but not annoyingly so, exactly rightful in the way she stood up for herself. Also her writing and love for those fairy tale stories, I related so much to her feelings of wanting love like that. And hiding herself behind her made up persona of Cressida.

Both their character journeys were well paced and structured. I could see how they changed by the end. I liked that they both had things to deal with outside their relationship and actually got through their hardships better together instead of apart. I'm a SUCKERRR for mutual support and of course this book has lots of it. They make a really good team.

Also the plot twist at the end of her being the author of the stories took me completely off guard!!! Totally was not expecting that at all. Some of the dramatic scenes seemed a bit much like when the solicitors came and he was professing his love and the scene he caused when practicing with the knights and handmaidens.

Loved the yearning and constant little trysts that were interrupted. Somehow it didn't feel like lust or love at first sight and actually had quite a smooth transition that made sense to me. Given how lonely those two were, of course they would yearn. I can't believe I'm saying this but my one gripe that I couldn't overlook was that they had trysts in the most awkward times! Of course I know it's part of the appeal but ******* in the hallways right before they meet the solicitors??? akjdbasd I was laughing a bit even though the love confessions were sooo sweet! I just wish it were a different timing. It just felt strange they had time to do all that right before the meeting. It just felt slightly awkward and took away from the feeling of urgency.

I'm not taking away any stars because I genuinely had a lot of fun reading this. It's a feat that I didn't skim the book out of boredom and I think that's a testament to her skill. She's a fun writer I will check out more books from!"

"I've been experimenting with reading romance lately since I want something fun, light and fluffy since I've reading too many hard hitting books lately. This novel definitely hit the spot. It was silly, whimisical, had a happy ending, and fun to reading. It was cheesy and predictable at time but I didn't mind. This was probably the best of the romance books that I have read thus far."
