Before the Lost Boys. There was just a boy named James who wanted to get back to Neverland. As a baby, James Bartholomew fell out of his pram and was taken to Neverland. James is claimed by his parents just shy of seven days--after which he would have officially become a Lost Boy. Once he returns to London, he never stops thinking about Neverland. As he grows up, he hates his life in London, and everything to do with growing up and eventually becoming a gentleman. So he seeks a position on the ship of the infamous pirate, Blackbeard. On Blackbeard's ship he learns to be a cutthroat pirate, and eventually becomes captain of his own ship, which James is determined to sail to Neverland. "This is the ninth book in the Disney Villain Series.
We all know the story of the infamous pirate, the one cursed by the constant ticking of the clock that grew to hate the Lost Boys, who never had to grow up.
Before there was that tale, there was indeed another: of a child who had his chance to become a Lost Boy taken from him. Of a boy who only wanted to return to Never Land. Of a young man who despised the life he had in London so much that he left the life he had to join the crew of a pirate ship. And of a pirate turned captain that was set to return to the land where you stay young and foolish forever. To the only place he felt at home. The man never knew returning to Never Land would come at such a price, especially for a man that had no choice but to grow up.
This book adds complexity to the story of Captain Hook, and truly makes you feel sorry for what has happened to him. Hook was once a lost boy, he was once friends with Peter Pan, until he wasn’t. What happened to make him want to kill Peter and his Lost Boys? I found myself pulling for Hook the whole time, it has parts in the book where you wish his story wasn’t set in stone. Overall Hook was a good man until his life was turned upside down. He spent his whole life trying to return to Never Land just to be disappointed by the reality he found.
In their book the Odd Sisters still make their debut, and we discover that maybe their meddling persists in more ways that we could’ve ever imagined. "
"This one was really really interesting and cool tbh, but it’s not the best one she’s made. Reading it at first is good but it can get slightly meh if you read it a second or third time. Overall though, I really like it! It’s still a good book, it’s just not my favorite. "
