Best friends Lindsey, Kendra, and Dani endure every parent's nightmare when a tragic accident befalls their teenage boys, leaving one dead, another in a coma, and a third too traumatized to speak. Reeling from the worst night of their lives, the three mothers plunge into a desperate investigation of the bizarre incident. How could something so horrible happen in their wealthy Southern California suburb? They soon discover that the accident was just the beginning, and troubling discoveries lead to chilling questions: Do they really know their children? Do they even know each other? As more secrets surface, a fog of doubt and suspicion threatens to poison their families, their friendships, and the whole community. With the illusion of happiness and safety long gone, these women must now confront the hazards of heartbreak, the consequences of jealousy, and the dangers of living double lives.

"The Best of Friends” by Lucinda Berry is an engaging and entertaining read. The story revolves around three best friends Linsey, Dani, and Kendra and their teenage sons, Sawyer, Jacob, and Caleb. One day, while the boys are hanging out, a tragic incident occurs, leading to the death of one of them. As the parents and police work to uncover what really happened, long-buried secrets come to light, revealing their friendships might fragile and untrustworthy after all.
The story was interesting, but I had trouble keeping track of the characters, especially which son belonged to which parent. This is the second book I’ve read by Lucinda Berry, and I think she has a habit of making it a bit tricky to follow. Overall, it was a good story, but the ending wasn’t satisfying, which seems to be another trend with this author. I’m giving it 3 stars, unless there’s a second book to continue the story."
"It's been a minute since I've read an entire book in 24 hours! I HAD to know what happened and was hooked from the first chapter until the last! Set against the backdrop of the unthinkable, three life-long friends have to navigate these horrible waters together, while new secrets come to the surface. Read it!"
"I have yet to read a book by Lucinda Berry that I didn't enjoy and this is no exception. That being said, this is my least favorite of her novels so far. The plot twist was very obvious from the get go. It still kept me entertained and I read it in just 2 hours but I wasn't so shocked like I have been at her past twists. Still recommend. "
