"I’m still trying to make up my mind as to whether or not I liked this movie. I gave up at one point, exhausted by the interminable flirting, then grimly stuck the movie back on the next day and finished it. The lead characters I found both boring and contemptible, a poor mix- but Robinson as Keyes was by far the best thing in it, along with the plot, which forced the main characters to be somewhat interesting. I much prefer wilder’s later films, and idly wish Keyes had gotten his own movie."

"Unpopular opinion: I watched this back in the 90’s for one of my film classes in college…film noir…I remember that, having liked both the genre & McMurray very much, I was looking forward to seeing it - and hated it so much that to this day, I can’t unhear him saying “baby” or the visceral disdain I feel whenever I hear the title!
