Bells Broussard thought he had it made when his superpowers manifested early. Being a shapeshifter is awesome. He can change his hair whenever he wants and, if putting on a binder for the day is too much, hes got it covered. But that was before he became the countrys most wanted villain. After discovering a massive cover-up by the Heroes League of Heroes, Bells and his friends Jess, Emma, and Abby set off on a secret mission to find the Resistance. Meanwhile, power-hungry former hero Captain Orion is on the loose with a dangerous serum that renders meta-humans powerless, and a new militarized robotic threat emerges. Sometimes, to do a heros job, you need to be a villain.

"Second time reading this book. I'm bringing my wife up to speed so she can read the next book to me and enjoy it with me. I don't know why they haven't made an audio book of the third installment in this trilogy but I want to finish the series. It's a fun, post-apocalyptic, superpower story, with a diverse cast of characters both in race and LGBTQIA+ spectrum. I haven't been able to finish it because it requires reading a print form, which, due to migraines induced by reading, I have yet to read. So it's a shared experience now in the old fashioned sense.

This particular installment is told from Bells perspective, one of three best friends. It takes us back to before the events of the first book, dove tails into those events and then proceeds forward. The third installment is Emma's story. The narrator for this one was okay, just some odd choices for annunciation in certain sentences, maybe it was a bad cut on the recording, I don't know. Overall though, it's fun to see the superhero side of things as Jess's story was from the outside trying to get in."
