"It was good. Not great, good. This sequel continued on with the characters from the first book and added some new ones. The characters are creative and well developed but to story could have been written with abt 100 less pages. Some of the hint and chase scenes get a bit detailed and I found myself skimming through. That said, I didn’t want to put it down!"

"Simply amazing. It's rare that I like a sequel as much as I like the first book in a series but this is one of the few exceptions. This book, like it's predecessor, is phenomenal. It kept me hooked throughout its entirety. and I'm still hooked after it's over. I HAVE to know what happens next!"
"So I started this book the night I finished the first one and wasn’t sure what to think. But it’s only getting better!!! So many twists and turns!!! I can’t even believe how exciting it is. This girl sam with the hole in her chest and her sister Esme I think we are going to see them again. Also I love that Jacob still has parents who love him and this book is beyond expectations!!!! I have so many feelings about this book...I plan on starting the 3rd one tonight. I just love them so much!!!!!!! Also everything about The writing mixed with the old photographs is incredible!!!!"
"I did like this book in the end, but honestly it took me a very long time to read it. I don't know if I was expecting the same level of awe from Jacob and was disappointed when I didn't get it, or if I just found all the travel and running and getting captured and escaping and everything just a bit repetitive and boring. But the twist at the end genuinely took me by surprise and I think I'm ready for the next book.
The parallels between the war they're fighting and the various wars they leap through in the book doesn't lose its meaning either. And all the lore now unlocked, pieces of the puzzle from the last book now falling into place, set the next book up beautifully.
And that's the thing, is I felt like this book was mostly a transitional book. We needed to see Jacob making the choice once and for all to stay or not. We needed to see all the children getting stronger. We needed to know the younger ones wouldn't be in the midst of the fight. We needed to see the vast Peculiar Universe... and how it was greatly shrinking. So this book was written, right before the actual action happens in the next book.
I would recommend it for anyone that read the first because the series is definitely going to be good."
"My goodness, we're just diving down the rabbit hole with this one. I simply must know how this ends"

"It took me until about halfway through this one to get into it, but once I was, I enjoyed it. Looking forward to reading book 3."
