The dead are restless here... Remy is a tour guide for the notoriously haunted Carrow House. When she's asked to host guests for a week-long stay in order to research Carrow's phenomena, she hopes to finally experience some of the sightings that made the house famous. At first, it's everything they hoped for. Then a storm moves in, cutting off their contact with the outside world, and things quickly take a sinister turn. Doors open on their own. Séances go disastrously wrong. Their spirit medium wanders through the house at night, seemingly in a trance. But it isn't until one of the guests dies under strange circumstances that Remy is forced to consider the possibility that the ghost of the house's original owner--a twisted serial killer--still walks the halls. And by then it's too late to escape... Also By Darcy Coates: The Haunting of Ashburn House The Haunting of Blackwood House Craven Manor The House Next Door Voices in the Snow

""How can you kill the unkillable?"<br/><br/>I've been meaning to read a book by Darcy Coates for forever, and I finally picked up The Carrow Haunt, which is a new release from this year. I ended up really enjoying it! <br/><br/>I can always be drawn in with a haunted house story. The Carrow Haunt has such a fun set-up - it's kind of similar to Hell House, except it doesn't suck (sorry, not sorry). The main character is a tour guide at a haunted inn, and she ends up getting the opportunity to stay there for 2 weeks to study the inn. I love it! <br/><br/>Does this book bring anything new to the haunted house genre? Not really, but it's so damn entertaining. I was addicted to the story, and I couldn't get through it fast enough. It had a couple good spooky scenes, and I enjoyed being creeped out. <br/><br/>I liked the characters, and I absolutely loved that nobody could be trusted in such a creepy environment. I suspected everyone of something at some point. There are some surprising reveals, and I am happy that I didn't automatically solve everything. <br/><br/>The only thing I didn't like was the ending, which is why this wasn't a 5⭐ read for me. I'm not really going to go into why to avoid spoilers, but I feel like it didn't really match with the doom and gloom that had been perfectly built by this book. This is just personal preference, so it may work really well for another reader. It wasn't a terrible ending; I was just a bit disappointed.<br/><br/>I am definitely a Darcy Coates fan now. This is one of the better haunted house stories I've read , and I can't wait to read more from her. If you haven't read her books yet, I highly recommend picking this one up."
"whew! what a ride this book took me on! it was a good start not too slow and not too fast either. the plot twist was not what i was expecting and the very end was very cute but kinda predictable with everything the two characters went through. definitely worth the read without giving anything away."
"Such a great read! Suspenseful and horrific, funny and romantic. It's not too often a ghost story turns into a love story."

"Me too! I just started “Within These Walls” by Ania Ahlborn. I just finished “The Troop” by Nick Cutter. I really enjoyed that one, it was very graphic, but very entertaining."
