Harlan Coben
Ten years after the high-profile kidnapping of two young boys, only one returns home in this gripping #1 New York Times bestselling Myron Bolitar thriller from the bestselling author and creator of the hit Netflix drama The Stranger.A decade ago, kidnappers grabbed two boys from wealthy families and demanded ransom, then went silent. No trace of the boys ever surfaced. For ten years their families have been left with nothing but painful memories and a quiet desperation for the day that has finally, miraculously arrived: Myron Bolitar and his friend Win believe they have located one of the boys, now a teenager. Where has he been for ten years, and what does he know about the day, more than half a life ago, when he was taken? And most critically: What can he tell Myron and Win about the fate of his missing friend? Drawing on his singular talent, Harlan Coben delivers an explosive and deeply moving thriller about friendship, family, and the meaning of home.

"Listened to the audiobook. Now this is more of what I expected from the first book, having more context and background of who Binti is and why she’s the main character in the first book.<br/>I found this one more interesting to listen to, seeing how different cultures might intermingle or have a potential connection especially for Binti learning that the “Desert People” are more civilized/complex than they have outsiders or people not familiar with the culture believe about them.<br/>And that her paternal grandmother is a part of those people. So she gets to learn more and made the decision to become a part of them, adding to her identity.<br/>It’s difficult though to balance that because there’s always room for misunderstandings, miscommunications, and misconceptions from one culture to another.<br/><br/>"
"Interesting. I love the interweaving of science fiction with African traditions, and the development of competing cultures with their various prejudices . Having Oku, the murderous alien from the first book as a major character and influence on Binti is fascinating. However at times I found my attention wandering (I listened to the audiobook) ; it lacked the tension of the first installment. We’ll see how things go in part 3!"
"Huge fan of Harlan Coben, this is the second one I've read by him in about a month and it didn't disappoint. It's actually the first I've read of the Myron Bolitar series and I loved it"
