"3.5. It was perfectly fine. Enjoyed the horror movie references including the rules. I did think it was going to be written differently than I thought. Still enjoyed it for the most part."

"absolutely devoured this book; I could not put it down! I loved the main character and was truly crying by the end. The gore was just gory enough and I actually got so scared it was hard for me to sleep that night. There were a few times when I felt like the characters were a little dumb, like Charity immediately trusting the camp owner when he returned. I liked the incorporation of classic horror elements, like cults and supernatural abilities. I’m glad that horror is becoming more prominent in books as well as movies and this was a very satisfying quick read. "
"⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was a fun quick read! The pace was great, the premise was right up my alley, and the writing was easy. I would say this is a nice ‘palette cleanser’ of a book if you just need something that immerses you and doesn’t require much brain power (learning about systems and worlds etc.) I will say, when the ‘killer’ was first mentioned, I was kind of dreading it, but as I kept going, it was getting really fun and interesting. Less of the killer being literal (you’ll see what I mean when you read it). The identity of the killer was kinda obvious, but, for me I guessed about 1-2 chapters before they actually revealed it (so maybe not that obvious?). I enjoyed the idea of it being at a horror summer camp experience and bringing in the rules of a horror movie. I also really liked the ending. It was a great start to spooky season!"
"Adjusting to the writing is a little rough in the beginning. The language and style dates it heavily but reading in the general era it's meant to appeal to helps. Anyway, I think it's got good twists and turns, albeit quite predictable, but I still found them enjoyable.
I <3 Bezi & Charity.
It does its horror references well! Even without the direct mentions it's easy to tell the inspirations without a massacre of their legacies. As a horror fan I enjoyed."
"It was good, but kind of predictable. I didn’t predict 3 events. But I guess it was more like 2 bc I ended up being right at the end. Writing style is pretty simple. "
