To win the job of her dreams, a relationship-prone journalist needs to learn how to stay single in this heartwarming and hilarious new romantic comedy from the beloved author of Lease on Love.Lana Parker is an expert girlfriend. After a disastrous breakup with her high school boyfriend, she's bounced from long-term relationship to long-term relationhip and even works as the dating and relationships columnist for one of Los Angeles's trendiest websites. But when Lana suddenly finds herself single, she's ready to take a break, both personally and professionally. That is, until her high school ex, Seth Carson, takes an assignment at Lana's site. Having spent years traveling the world as a freelance journalist, Seth's finally ready to put down roots. Seth and Lana's chemistry is just as combative—and undeniable—as ever and quickly leads to a competition that could shape both of their careers. Pitted against each other by Lana's boss, they are each tasked with writing an article series that goes against their usual dating type: Lana needs to write about being single and staying single, while Seth must learn to settle down and become boyfriend material. Whoever's series is most popular wins a highly coveted dream job. But when the two square off, it's not only their careers on the line—it’s also their hearts.

"It’s if you took the writers excursions in Beach Read by Emily Henry and added the tone of The Bodyguard by Katherine Center, and set it all in LA.
Relationship advice columnist Lana has had a bad couple of days. She shows up to a dinner expecting a proposal and is instead dumped (a la Elle Woods in the first few minutes of Legally Blonde). Then she shows up to work (completely hungover), and her high school heartbreak, Seth, has just been hired to work alongside her. Before you know it, they’re pitted against each other for Lana’s dream job.
Unputdownable. I so enjoyed the internal drama of Lana and stayed up into the wee hours of the morning to read this book, rooting for her triumphs and cringing at some of the scrapes she gets into. Aside from the drama of Lana and Seth having lists of tasks to complete together, Lana does some solid work on herself.
Would definitely recommend if you like Emily Henry’s books, rom coms (especially How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days), and a good lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers story.
Thanks to NetGalley, Putnam Books, and Fallon Ballard for the early copy of this book. All thoughts expressed are my own. :)"
"I thought this book was a cute addition to this traditionally kind of cringe trope. As far as character development went, (always my biggest deciding factor) I felt it was pretty average but not awful. Initially, this book was hard to get into in the beginning. The first two chapters, come across as a bit too much complaining/stereotypical but I stuck it out and overall I am glad I did. I think if anything, this story did a great job of promoting mental health importance for all by showcasing relatable therapy sessions that aren't the "shrink-style" you typically see in pop culture books or tv. I'm glad to have added this to my list for reading this year! 7/10"
"This a fun read. So if you're looking for a book to fill your time while lazing about the pool ... this is a good one. High school sweethearts who part badly then come together again years later only to end up competing for the same job is the summation of this book. Doesn't sound like much but it works. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that the couple has communication issues that would have solved everything back when they were dating. But then you wouldn't have a story. :)"
"This was a charming little vampire romance. Like, did it make a lot of sense? No. (I don't understand why authors make these thousand-year-old vampires who have somehow never experienced the world they live in!) Was the romance incredibly fast? Yes. (Love at first smack in the face with a microscope). But the banter was cute, the characters were fun, overall I enjoyed it."
