Six teens murdered. A suspect behind bars. A desperate father. In a case this shadowy, the truth is easy to hide. Psychiatrist Dr. Gwen Moore is an expert on killers. She's spent a decade treating California's most depraved predators and unlocking their motives--predators much like the notorious Bloody Heart serial killer, whose latest teenage victim escaped and then identified local high school teacher Randall Thompson as his captor. The case against Thompson as the Bloody Heart Killer is damning--and closed, as far as Gwen and the media are concerned. If not for one new development... Defense attorney Robert Kavin is a still-traumatized father whose own son fell prey to the BH Killer. Convinced of Thompson's innocence, he steps in to represent him. Now Robert wants Gwen to interview the accused, create a psych profile of the killer and his victims, and help clear his client's name. As Gwen and Robert grow closer and she dives deeper into the investigation, grave questions arise. So does Gwen's suspicion that Robert is hiding something--and that he might not be the only one with a secret.

"It's hard to fit this book into a specific genre. It's about a serial killer who targets rich, handsome, 17-year-old boys. The main character is a psychiatrist who works with depraved, everyday people who want to kill, and they go to her for help before they actually go throughwith it. There isn't any real action or thrill here. Procedural communications regarding profiling and basically trying to find out if the person caught for the crimes is truly the killer. Some romance. I actually really liked this book mostly because the main character felt so real. I completely understand her and felt like her internal dialog could have been mine. I always felt like her thoughts and words spoken were accurate for the situation. I can't tell you how many times I've read a book and thought the actions and reactions felt out of place. The ending was unique, in my opinion. I absolutely recommend this book. She is a new favorite author, for sure. Already have another of her books on the way."
"3/5 predictable but still a really good book. I caught on around halfway through the book what was going to happen but there were still some small twists I didn’t see coming! I read through this pretty quickly too so it’s a good pick up if you’re in a slump! "
