"Having seen the American films "The Ring" and "The Ring 2" with Naomi Watts, I had a fairly high expectation going into the original book which inspired them. I was not let down. It is creepy from the beginning, and the suspension just grows. I definitely want to check out its sequels "Spiral" and "Loop", books 2 and 3 respectively."
"This doesn't catch my interest at all, and I think it's probably because of the translation. I read over 100 pages and just can't get into it. I have no desire to pick it up anymore. Also, the rapist character is weird & pointless, and it's even ******* weirder that his friend listens to his stories & stays silent."
"Holds up really well. I'm a huge fan of the original Japanese movie and reading this gave me even more appreciation for it. It was fun comparing the differences between book and movie. Loved the book but also a rare and wonderful case of a book getting a movie that's even better than it because of the changes."
"Honestly disappointed. I’m a huge fan of the ring movies and a big believer that books movies are based on are always better but this book was incredibly boring. Disappointed there was no creepy things happening throughout the week and the whole book was just about finding out how to break the curse. Honestly wish I didn’t even finish "
"Complete atrocity, insane garbage, physical manifestation of literary filth. I regret reading this with all of my being, and the author needs psychological help. idk why this book has such a high rating, but I guess when this trash was written, people were easily entertained with just about anything. This book praises abuse like it’s nothing, murder like it’s nothing, and is a huge F*ck You to human life. If I could wash my eyes in Holy Water, & let them soak for a few days, I would…"
"There's a lot to like about this book, but an equal amount, if not more, to dislike. First of all, the pacing and atmosphere are great, I liked that aspect. The story itself was good. The problem is with the misogynistic portrayals of women and the inclusion of SA. That alone brought to entire story down for me. The main characters aren't likeable and I found myself not really caring whether they lived or died by the end. I'd probably rate this 2 stars, maybe 2.5, but I wouldn't recommend it."
