"This was a very fun read! The writing is beautiful, and the world is very whimsical and enchanting. Definitely kept me entertained! I liked all of the main characters, and loved the friendship dynamic between the three women. I was a little bit disappointed that Marietta and Captain Legat didn't get to be together in the end, but I'm glad that Marietta will continue to dance and chase her dreams! Definitely worth the read!"
"Set in 1906, adult version of the Nutcracker. Marietta who dreams of pursuing her love of ballet is pressure by her family and society to marry and live a domestic life as a good housewife.<br/>Dr. Drosselmeier a wealthy toy craftsman moves into the townhouse next door. He Conjures up magical enchantments and sends Marietta into a world of Sugar and sweets. Marietta find herself in an unknown world imprisoned by King Gelum were she is forced to dance everyday. She finds herself, her power, a new love and the courage to confront her fears and finally follow her heart.<br/>Magical, dreamy and very entertaining. The cover is beautiful and I love the Adult take on this vs. the original Clara as a young child coming of age. Although the ending provided a somewhat satisfactory close, I was looking for more on the romance between Legat and Marietta; Just felt incomplete.<br/>"
"A solid 3.75 stars for me. At times I loved this book and at times I thought it went on a little to long. The concept was delightful and everything someone would want from a Nutcracker retelling. "
