What if Anna and Elsa never knew each other? As the future Queen of Arendelle, Princess Elsa's life is full of expectation and responsibility-not to mention, questions. What type of ruler will she be? When will she have to pick a suitor? And why has she always harbored the feeling that some critical piece of herself is missing? Following the unexpected death of her parents, Elsa is forced to answer those questions sooner than she'd hoped, becoming the sole ruler of her kingdom and growing lonelier than ever. But when mysterious powers begin to reveal themselves, Elsa starts to remember fragments of her childhood that seem to have been erased-pieces that include a very familiar-looking girl. Determined to fill the void she has always felt, Elsa must take a harrowing journey across her icy kingdom to undo a terrible curse . . . and find the missing Princess of Arendelle.

These memories include a familiar looking girl with red hair, but who is she? Determined to find what she’s missing in life, Elsa must cross her icy kingdom to undo a curse and to find the missing princess of Arendelle.
I think for a twisted tale story this was well written. The Disney Twisted Tale series takes a vital part of a Disney story and changes it to where the story itself is different. In this one instead of just growing up apart, Anna and Elsa have no recollection of each other and grow up completely apart, until the time comes when they need to remember. I think not even knowing the original story, I think this mixed up retelling is better than the original. Of course it has a predictable ending, predictable character development due to the story it’s based on, but I still found myself caught in the story and enjoying it from start to finish. It’s a very short read and even as an adult I fully enjoyed ready the alternate story of Arendelle’s princesses."
"Such a good twist on the movie! Got me even more hooked to the series! It was such a good read! I might reread it."

"I love Frozen so I knew I’d love this! I love a good twist on fairytales and I think these twisted tales are so much fun! I loved the little things that were the same but backwards and the extra twist of the curse! I also think the best thing about Frozen is how important the sisterly bond is between Anna & Elsa so I loved that this book didn’t take that away, just changed it to fit the twist!"
"1.5

I will give you a warning but later in this review there will be some spoilers for Conceal, Don’t Feel and Frozen.

I don’t think fairy tale retelling is the best way to describe this book. The book felt like a fanfiction that you could find on wattpad. The writing wasn’t anything special. It was something anyone could do if they were a decent writer.

Except for the parts that were copied from the movie, the characters lost their personality. I was never that much of a fan of Olaf, but i still wanted somewhat of his personality. In the book he was just a piece of cardboard. Everyone was a piece of Cardboard. The author missed what made each character special. There were a few decisions that the characters made that i thought “the actual character would never do that”.

Spoiler for movie

Most of the book was copied by the movie. A ton of scenes were copied word by word what happened. The same thing that happened in the book happened in the movie. Else accidentally freezing her home, makes the castle, Hans goes after her, Kristoff and Anna going after her, Elsa getting captured, Anna and Kristoff getting separated, Anna being taken home and so on. I get that it is a “fairy tale retelling”, but that is no excuse. A fairy tale retelling is a story that adds a twist to the story while still being it’s own thing. ‘Conceal, Don’t Feel’, had the twist that Anna and Elsa never met but they never did anything special with it. It is pretty much Frozen but if they didn’t remember each other or they were separated. Even the title was copied by the movie. ‘Conceal, Don’t Feel’ is a line from the movie.

Spoiler for book

Hans was badly written in the book. I know we all hate Hans but he was better in the movie. In the book he was stupid. In the movie there were some plot holes with him wanting to be king but he mades even less sense in the book. Sence there is no Anna, Hans goes after Elsa. She isn’t willing to marry him but she is kinda into him. Which is out of character for her. Anyways after she runs away, Hans goes after her. He goes up to her and is like “hey you should come back and we can rule together. Elsa is like “no i can’t go back”. Then Hans is like “ok i’m evil now and i’ll go after your sister instead”. That is latterly the scene if you simplified it. Hans trys to convince Elsa to go back with him so that they could rule together. Elsa relizes that Hans just wants her to come back so that he can become king. She refuses to go back. Hans tells Elisa that he is evil and he tells her his plan. Hans does have a crossbow but still Elsa could of killed him if she wanted to. There were a few scenes that she could of killed him but she doesn’t because plot reasons. But seriously, he picked a bad time to tell her. It is like after that he forgets that he’s trying to get married to a princess. He does try to attract Anna for a little bit until he gets bored and decides that he rather be evil. He doesn’t even try that hard with Anna. He just acts nice for a few pages then it is thrown out the door. He tells Anna about how she is the princess and that they should rule together. Not that long ago Hans told Anna that he was planning on killing her sister so i don’t get why he expected a yes. His plan after that made even less sence. He plans to kill Elsa and Anna so that he could become king. One: that is not how monarchs work. Two: they are not going to have a random prince become king. It is pathetic that his downfall was that he didn’t whisper his plan or check to make sure no one was listening.

The sister love made no sense. They haven’t seen eachother since they were little kids so how can they love eacher enough for Anna to sacrifice her life. You know the last scene to the frozen movie. That is what happens in the book and it makes no sense. They had no interaction between eachother. They may as well be strangers.

Also i’ll like to add that the Queen has been visiting Anna for years and no one realized that she was the queen. Not even Anna. She wasn’t even disguise that good. Anna realized that the queen and the lady that she know looked similar as soon as she saw the picture. Is everyone really that dumb.

The curse made no sence and it made no sence why Elsa didn’t know about her powers until later on. Even if her parents didn’t want to tell her she should of found it out on her own. There was one scene where Elsa was controlling her powers using love so she should of already knew how to use her powers.

If the author at least tryed to do something knew i would of gave the book another star but i saw no effort to make something new. It is the same story but bad."
"I AM HAVING SO MANY FEELINGS!!! Just AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!! That was SO beautiful!!! I read 235 pages from it in One sitting, and it's been a while since a book has had me doing that!!! It was written so well and I LOVED how it differed from the movie!!! This made me hate Hans even more than the movie did XD And the way Elsa's grief and pain was written? SPECTACULAR!!!! I loved Everything about this book, and I honestly think it's my favorite of the Twisted Tales series (Though [b:As Old As Time|28450966|As Old As Time|Liz Braswell|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1459963718l/28450966._SY75_.jpg|48577872] is an Extremely close second)!!! I Seriously recommend reading this if you like retellings or fantasy, because this was just WONDERFUL to read!!!"
