An Instant New York Times Bestseller In a world where witches control the climate and are losing control, only one witch can save earth from destruction. But as her power grows, it hurts those closest to her, and when she falls in love with her training partner she's forced to choose between her power, her love, and saving the earth. For centuries, witches have maintained the climate, but now their control is faltering as the atmosphere becomes more erratic; the storms, more destructive. All hope lies with Clara, a once-in-a-generation Everwitch whose magic is tied to every season. In Autumn, Clara wants nothing to do with her power. It's wild and volatile, and the price of her magic--losing the ones she loves--is too high, despite the need to control the increasingly dangerous weather. In Winter, the world is on the precipice of disaster. Fires burn, storms rage, and Clara accepts that she's the only one who can make a difference. In Spring, she falls for Sang, the witch training her. As her magic grows, so do her feelings, until she's terrified Sang will be the next one she loses. In Summer, Clara must choose between her power and her happiness, her duty and the people she loves...before she loses Sang, her magic, and thrusts the world into chaos. "Perfect for fans of Shea Ernshaw and Taylor Swift's Folklore."--Rosiee Thor, author of Tarnished Are the Stars "A bright, fresh read from a glowing new voice, THE NATURE OF WITCHES is both timely and stirring. Griffin's emotional writing that cuts to the heart will make her a new YA favorite."--Adrienne Young, New York Times bestselling author of Fable "The forces of nature and magic blend perfectly in this masterfully told story... I couldn't love this book more."--Shea Ernshaw, NYT bestselling author of The Wicked Deep and Winterwood

"I read through two other books while I was trying to slog through this one. I wouldn't have thought a tornado could be so boring. No relatable characters; the main character is stuck in a "my magic is a curse" mentality and isolates herself from others. Her teachers are horrid, putting the literal world's expectations on her shoulders, saying she should be able to easily do what no other witch at her school can't do because she is an ever witch, but there is no real explanation why they think this. Couldn't finish. Pass."

""You are the most magnificently disruptive thing that's ever entered my life..."

Based on the time it took to move this book from currently reading to read, one might assume I DNF'd it. No work was super slow and somehow I was so sucked into the novel that I read it in about 2.5 hours. It's been a long time since I've read a book that fast... and now I'm wanting another book by Rachel Griffin because oh my lord... she knows what she's doing. One of the best debuts I've read in a very VERY long time.

Let me just say... I usually dislike the character that can do everything because it always feels like such a cop-out but the way we're thrown into the story in the middle with her already having a backstory and why she hates her magic... also **** certain characters. Also I wouldn't necessarily regard the romance as a love triangle but the way we flicker between her and Paige reconnecting and me wanting the gay but then settling for the straight then back to the possible gay and back to the straight... I actually ended up enjoying the ending of that turmoil.

I will say I expected Clara to actually either die of depletion or become a "shader" in the end and have it be a sad ending, but I'm so glad they didn't explain away how that didn't happen - thanks to a certain something a certain someone concocted specifically for her AND THANK GOD HE WAS RIGHT. Anyway, I'm not sure if I want a sequel because it's tied up with such a beautiful neat bow in the end, or if I just want something else by Griffin but I can definitely say that I will be buying any book she comes out with in the future in a heartbeat."
"I will give this book 5 🌟. The storyline is original and well done. I love how witches merge with nature and uses there power according to the seasons. How the powers aline with their personalities. It's a story worth seeing in movies or in series. I'm astonished by it. I appreciate every page that kept me interested and wanting to read more. Love, love, love this book!"
"Amazing book! "
