To ensure she cannot escape again, the fiery princess is thrown into a prison cell with Marcus Loch. "First of all; SHE SAVES HERSELF!
SciFi has me in a chokehold lately: I absolutely loved this, in the most fire-y of ways Mihalik forged Ada out of aristocratic fires into a woman to be feared both in public and private. Armed with the knowledge that much like her other siblings, she’s a spare to a thrown she’ll never know, her only power “is as a pawn in a political marriage.” Being an individual badass independent woman who took after what we presume is also an independent badass mom we never really meet, Ada does otherwise and runs from an arranged marriage. Successfully for 2 years she’s “free” until she’s not, and gets thrown into a cell w Loch, the Devil of Fornax Zero, who was also on the run and is feared by the entire verse for a rebellion he snuffed out and presumably turned into treason. But as all things political, nothing is what it seems. Before we know it Ada uncovers a plot from that failed marriage that will destroy not only her world, but the 3 houses that run it. While also trying to figure out why Loch makes her tingly, oh and also keeping her siblings safe, and also not dying. This story is all plot and intrigue and twists and turns and master manipulation. Keeping her head on a swivel and toes light on the ground are an understatement. This was a pretty cool adventure that I went on when some of her other titles weren’t released and it most definitely provided me the fix needed! Happy reading!"
"3.5 stars, pushing 4. Surprisingly enjoyable since I am not really a romance fan. Even if I am 80% sure the first half at least started life as a Pitch Black fan fiction, I enjoyed getting to know the characters and seeing what they were capable of. I also appreciate a girl who knows her limits and is willing to admit them without shame."
"This book is the bomb. The main character is freaking awesome and the development of the romance is so, so good. "
