A city bookshop owner heads to the English countryside for a holiday reunion—only to face her childhood enemy.Elinor Noel—Nory for short—is quite content running her secondhand bookshop in London. Forever torn between her working-class upbringing and her classmates’ extravagant lifestyles at the posh private school she attended on scholarship, Nory has finally figured out how to keep both at equal distance. So when two of her oldest friends invite their whole gang to spend the time leading up to their wedding together at the castle near their old school, Nory must prepare herself for an emotionally complicated few days. The reunion brings back fond memories, but also requires Nory to dodge an ill-advised former fling. When she falls quite literally into the arms of Isaac, the castle’s head gardener, who has nothing but contempt for the "snobby prep school kids," the attraction between them is undeniable. And as Nory spends more time with Isaac during the wedding festivities, she finds herself falling hard for the boy she used to consider an enemy. Nory and Isaac explore their common ground, but pressures mount on all sides, and Nory must decide what kind of life she wants to live and what sort of love is worth the risk . . .

"Don’t let the adorable cover fool you, this was so boring! I was so hopeful for this, I means she owns a cute bookshop and goes to a cozy castle around Christmas time?! But I couldn’t be more wrong. There were way too many characters, I didn’t care for all of her friends. I wanted more romance from the main characters, not the backstory and side conversations with her friends. It was way too long. I wouldn’t call this a Christmas book either. DNF at page 138 (chapter 13)."
"I was able to read this for free thanks to Net Galley, although that does not affect my opinion of the actual book. Is it weird to read a Christmas book 6ish months before the holiday actually occurs? Probably, however I love Christmas and can always enjoy the reminder of the happiness I feel during that season and this is an advanced copy. The books cover and description really intrigued me, especially with the fact that it involves a bookshop (if a story includes an author, a book store, someone who loves books, etc, I’m fully into it). It took me some time to really get into the reading of this book. I had a really hard time getting into this book and ultimately kept finding myself bored. I was unable to finish it, unfortunately. I think it just felt too fancy of a world?"
