Sephy is a Cross - a member of the dark-skinned ruling class. Callum is a nought - a 'colourless' member of the underclass who were once slaves to the Crosses. The two have been friends since early childhood. But that's as far as it can go. Against a background of prejudice, distrust and mounting terrorist violence, a romance builds between Sephy and Callum - a romance that is to lead both of them into terrible danger . . .

"I listened to this on audible and I flew through it, I couldn’t stop listening. It was so good and the ending left me shook and utterly sad. Such a creative and original story. The only downfall is I don’t think I’ll be reading/listening to the rest of the series because the character I loved was killed off and it seems like something that would plague the rest of the series, I’ll just leave the series as I see it now. EXCEPTIONAL. 10/10 recommend "
