R.C. Lewis
“In this interplanetary retelling of ‘Snow White,’ debut author Lewis reveals a talent for worldbuilding and creating complex, memorable characters.” —Publishers WeeklyPrincess Snow is missing. Her home planet is filled with violence and corruption at the hands of King Matthias and his wife as they attempt to punish her captors. The king will stop at nothing to get his beloved daughter back—but that’s assuming she wants to return at all. Essie has grown used to being cold. Temperatures on the planet Thanda are always sub-zero, and she fills her days with coding and repairs for the seven loyal drones that run the local mines. When a mysterious young man named Dane crash-lands near her home, Essie agrees to help the pilot repair his ship. But soon she realizes that Dane’s arrival was far from accidental, and she’s pulled into the heart of a war she’s risked everything to avoid. In her enthralling debut, R. C. Lewis weaves the tale of a princess on the run from painful secrets . . . and a poisonous queen. With the galaxy’s future—and her own—in jeopardy, Essie must choose who to trust in a fiery fight for survival.“Snow White” gets an upgrade in this clever, surprisingly gritty science-fiction version . . . Sweet romance and graphic violence, earthy humor and chilling abuse, space-opera settings and vintage derring-do—they all intertwine with unexpected panache.” —Kirkus Reviews“Inventive nods to the original fairy tale, such as the seven droids Essie built and the death scene of the evil queen, are expertly done.” —School Library Journal

"I liked this book quite a bit more than I thought I would. It's a great retelling of Snow White. <br/><br/>There were a couple parts that I didn't like as much with the King and his evil self toward Essie in the past but thankfully it wasn't too bad. That is the only thing that I didn't like about it was his sick and wrong feelings toward his daughter which thankfully was only mentioned not in detail and the one part where something almost happened nothing happened. <br/><br/>I love the 7 droids and their personalities. Then Dane and Snow/Essie’s relationship 😀. <br/><br/>It's not a story I would have thought of, but I'm glad R.C. Lewis thought of it and wrote it! I love elements of sci fi and fantasy together in this awesome Snow White retelling.<br/><br/>"

"This author's writing style is incredible. So much detail, without dragging on. Perfect blend of sci-fi, fantasy, and old fairy tales. Familiar enough but keeps you guessing throughout the entire book. 10/10 recommend! #scifi_and_fantasy #fairy_tales "
