"The beginning was boring and the characters were annoying but about halfway through it picked up. One character is really bratty but is that way for the plot. The writing wasn't the best and was a bit confusing as to what characters pov was at the time because it would change mid-paragrah. But the ending was amazing and unexpected. 3.5⭐'s/ 5⭐'s"
"A somewhat fun middle grade read with some promising themes, but the story telling is chaotic, the writing confusing at times, and the arc erratic. The movie is better; a tighter, more poignant story with stronger theme and less Harry Potter similarities that simply don't work. I might read the second one to see if the writing gets stronger."
