"So I didn't start with much knowledge about this book. Many booktoks and recommendations videos later here we are. I listen to the audiobook which I think is a must. Richard Armitage and Gemma Whelan did an amazing job of freaking me out. There were many povs, so sometimes it was difficult to know who's story was being told. Though in this instance I put it all down to the experience and to make a point of drawing me in. I did appreciated the fast pace of the story which never grew stale.<br/><br/>But really what is it about religion that makes a story even more unnerving? Maybe because so many people where killed for and by Christianity. Haha I had to send my cousin videos of my face cringing so she would understand the severity of what I was listening to. The plot felt like many roads all converging on the same point. And I couldn't tell who or what had set them on course. The Burning Girls where a little easy to figure out but the rest I couldn't guess the outcomes.<br/><br/>I very much enjoyed all the characters. Jack was especially intriguing to follow. And raising a teenager gosh that brought back old memories. So of course they were all relatable and enjoyable to follow. Near the end the confessions didn't seem to stop. It was plot twist after plot twist. The ending felt a bit to open for me. Which I know it should be open but there could have been a little more intent on what Jacob would do next. All and all a solid spooky read.<br/><br/>"Who is the best on screen devil Al Pacino or Jack Nicholson?"<br/>"Who says the Devil has to be a man?""
"This book was WILD. I’ve never read anything by this author and I loved it from the beginning. It was thrilling and disturbing and kept me wanting to read “just more one chapter.” It’s a quick read and I really loved Jack and Flo. For me, if the main characters are annoying it just doesn’t work. CJ Tudor had me guessing up until the very end. Highly recommend! "

"4.5⭐️ <br/><br/>This was a fast paced read that kept me thinking about what is going to happen! The end had a brilliant twist that left me astonished. Highly recommend this thriller!<br/><br/>The female protagonist is Jack a Vicar (reverend) that recently moved with her 15yo daughter to a new congregation in a small town. The prior Vicar of the Church, committed suicide, that miffed several townsfolk. Plus they had a history of disappearance/death in their town. <br/>Jack recently finds out that someone close to her was released out of prison. Plus now her daughter and herself is having weird hallucinations of two burning girls. What does this mean to them?<br/><br/>Her daughter was being bullied and Jack tried to find out the perpetrators because her daughter would not tell her mom. <br/><br/>Jack then stumbles upon a vault in the Church and deep inside was a dead body. It’s hard to believe that there is a killer in this small sleepy town. Who did the body belong to and who is the killer?<br/><br/>Thank you #ballantine and #netgalley for a #gifted review copy."
"It was fine. Kept my attention but not on the edge of my seat. Jack and her daughter are assigned to a new church after Jack is the scapegoat in an abuse turned deadly at her old church. When she moves to the new church everyone is giving her some push back and are very odd. Her daughter meets a boy with a disease that causes him to jerk and that makes him a target for two bullies. The two bullies are cousins in a well known family who gives lots of support to the church. They start to torment the boy and jacks daughter. Jacks husband was not a nice man and was murdered by her brother who has recently been released from jail and Jack is avoiding him finding her location. Secrets of the town are starting to be uncovered. 2 bodies found in a well and an extra body in the mausoleum. One body is the priest who supposedly liked young girls. The bodies in the well is a young girl who went missing and her mother. Even though two young girls went missing. Okay, let’s wrap it up. The bodies in the well was Joy and Marys mom. She was killed my Clara who was in love with the priest who had actually gotten the young girl pregnant. Jacks brother threw his and jacks mom down the well for letting the abuse happen. The other missing girl is actually Jack and her brother killed the priest as he was performing and exorcism/assault on her. The bully/boyfriend of jacks daughter actually played them and wanted them dead. He was dating the girl cousin and they schemed together to try to kill them. Jacks brother who had recently got out of jail had been watching them from afar and came to rescue them"
