"What in the world did I just read??
The main character Kelly is so naive! I felt like the relationship she was getting into and her through process sound like a 20 year old. Not a 35 year old! Many times I wanted to stop reading but it held my attention just enough to want to know the ending.

Kelly is in a failing relationship with Mike. During covid they postponed the wedding. He told her he didn’t want to reschedule it. She took that as we need time apart. Her friend Sabrina invites her to stay with her and her husband Nathan. While she’s there they begin a relationship together. Kelly keeps finding puzzling things that no one seems to want to explain. Their previous partner Beth had disappeared. Kelly feels something’s off but always talks herself out of it. Then Beth reappears. The next morning she’s dead. Who did it? Kelly can’t let it go and investigates. She finds the murder weapon about the time Nathan walks in. Kelly thinks Nathan did it and Nathan thinks Kelly did it. They struggle with the gun and it goes off killing Nathan. Sabrina and Kelly tell a certain story to the cops to make sure no one finds out about everyone being in a relationship. Kelly and Sabrina move away to New York together and Kelly stops by to get her things from Mike. He confesses that he accidentally killed Beth thinking it was Kelly but he didn’t mean to kill her. Kelly doesn’t tell Sabrina so Sabrina forever thinks Nathan did it. Sabrina and Kelly break up and stay friends. We find out Beth was a grifter and left because she was bored. Found out she was pregnant and knew Nathan would pay her for the next 18 years to keep quiet and not tell. She never planned on keeping the baby but he didn’t need to know that."
