"I really want to say that this book was amazing, and don’t get me wrong it was good, but not in the way I wanted. I don’t know what I was expecting, and I kind of just made a few guesses. The beginning was really long, which was for a reason, but it felt so unnecessary. I was confused by how long it took to get to the main mystery part of the book, and I somewhat appreciate how long it was. Although, I don’t think I’d sit through it again.
This book is good for a one time read. Money, desire, and love. The simplest way to put it, but the best way as well. If you read it, then here’s a fair warning: it doesn’t get interesting until you’re ahead of page 100 maybe even more (239 pages in total)."
"Highly recommend. I just finished this book and had to write a little review on it. I am still in shock at the ending. She's so wonderful at making you believe you know who the murderer is. By planting a trail of breadcrumbs, she makes you think you have the culprit all figured out, only to find out it was a completely different person all along. Absolutely amazing story. I became so invested in the characters lives; she paints it in such a relatable and empathetic manner you just get sucked into the story. Very sad and dark, as many of her stories are. But an amazing book. "
"A bit of a slow burning fuse here. This story was a bit different than the other Agatha Christie mysteries I've become familiar with, but fun nonetheless. It's difficult to say too much about the plot without giving up spoilers. I will say that it's a tale with a bit of a love, a lot of crime, cursed lands, and of course, plot twists. This time out,, there were not as many characters of great consequence as in some of her other books, which may make it a little easier to get settled into for a quick entertaining read.<br/>4.5 stars."

"I'm a huge fan of Agatha Christie books, but this novel just doesn't work for me. First of all, at 185 pages its still too long, which is odd as Christie always knew what stories deserved to be a novel and which were better as short stories. This would have been served much better as a short story. Moreover, I've rarely read a book with such an unlikable protagonist, who always narrates the novel in the first person. It makes for a very unenjoyable reading experience. And the solution of the mystery didn't come across as the exciting twist I think it was meant to be."
