"My version of the book had both The Haunting of Gillespie House and The Crawlspace. Gillespie House had a rich history and an interesting twist. I was happy that Elle was able to find Hannah’s body, even if I thought Elle was very stupid for most of the book. She overstepped boundaries and was entirely inconsiderate of the fact she was staying in someone else’s home. Her phone calls to Mrs. Gillespie made me cringe. And yet.. her callousness toward the wishes of the owners ended up being the reason why the mystery was solved and Hannah was found after being missing for four years. I’m still amazed police searched the house like four times and didn’t find the door in the cupboard with a key sticking out of it, but that’s a different story. Elle ends up with a good ending—she defeats the still living BBEG, gets reward money, and is allowed to stay in the house and furnish it with the old fancy furniture that she found in the attic. I’d say 3.5 stars out of 5 because even though I didn’t really like Elle, the story had great fleshing out and I liked how it ended.

Now The Crawlspace.. terrifying. The imagery of her being spaced between walls that squeezed no matter where she went was crazy. I don’t understand why she was allowed to live though? If all the other kids went missing, why was she returned to her room? Did she get farther than the rest? Was he playing with her and waiting for her to come back? Why the hell was there a portal to hell (or a version of hell as I see it)??? Very confusing. Confused and heart racing.. I give it 2.5 or 3 out of 5 because great emotions but many unanswered questions."
"I thought the story was pretty good, not my favorite from Darcy that’s for sure. I almost want to give it two stars but i love her writing style so I’ll leave it at a low 3 star. The bonus stories are good though, that’s also why it’s a 3 star :) wouldn’t recommend this book by her. She’s had much better in my opinion. "
"i really enjoyed this book, it was quick, creepy read with an amazing ghost story. a lot of the reviews for this book say the writing is bad, but i disagree completely. the writing and vocabulary is just simple, which is something i enjoyed. i picked up this book with the intention of reading before bed, and to take a break from my other book i’m currently reading, so the simpler writing style was amazing. this is definitely a great read."
"I gave it 4 stars because it kept me interested on how it would end, but the ending was OK. There was no jump scares and I get scared easily but if you’re a big fan of horror like I am, I would read this just to say you read it. Spoiler alert 🚨 Jonathan Gillespie was obsessed with darkness. He tortured his family. He was like a cult leader. You’ll read about that and how one of his kids trapped him to die. After a few years, Genevieve(his daughter) took it upon herself to get this crystal that would kill him for good, but it didn’t work. She ended up trapped and dying there until 200 years later. This is when Elle was invited by the homeowners who lost their child a few years back to babysit the house for a month after the first few nights, she started hearing noises. Elle came across a secret door which slam shot so she also ended up being trapped. The noises was Genevieve trying to talk to her in helping her trying to end Jonathan’s life with all that happening she ended up finding the missing daughter. There’s more to the story, but if that interest you then definitely a must read for you."
