"I can't be certain, but I suspect my little 14 yr old neighbor might've written this. Or any one of her immature, inexperienced, juvenile cohorts. Plot? Who needs one? Fans of this book evidently."

"I liked it. It's a good, unsympathetic story of a spoiled, troubled, and spiteful girl who grows into a spoiled, troubled, and bitter woman. And I was suprised in the end."

"Wow. It really is always the husband. I was so sure that I knew who did it. Then right there at the very end, I find out I was wrong. This book took me a little to get into in the beginning. But sooner or later, things got messy and I was just shocked. 9/10. And of course, some praise for Aubrey. Because, she pulled that off. She got what she wanted in the end and didn’t even have to get her hands dirty. "

"Ugh. Other than the teaser chapter at the beginning getting me to want to know what happened, and a mildly interesting set of twists in the last 50 pages or so, I really disliked this one. Every SINGLE character except one or two who have a handful of lines each (and one consistent supporting character) is thoroughly unlikeable, dissolute, corrupt, addicted, and underdeveloped. Kate, one of the main trio of girlfriends in the book, is supposedly so charming that everybody can’t help but love her despite her brokenness - yet all the reader sees is her selfish self-destructive spirals. We never learn why she’s so broken and we never get charmed by her like so many characters seem to be. I don’t buy it.

I’ve read books that I enjoyed decently, full of complicated and not particularly likeable characters. This is not one of them. It took hundreds of pages to be able to consistently tell apart the voices of the girlfriends, so complex character development can’t even be said to make up for the slow pace. Again, it’s not that I need a fast pace - I adore lord of the rings and other ponderous books! - but something has to meaningfully make up for it like excellent philosophy, character development, or simply quality of writing and delicious description. This book managed none of those. If I hadn’t had the teaser chapter this would’ve been a DNF (plus I’m stubborn about giving up on a book, to a fault)"

"Some good plot twists and turns, but the connection between the first and second half of the book was hard to get."

"Cheap twists and flat characters. More than unlikable, they're straight up poorly-written. That reveal in the last two pages? Spare me."

"This book kept me very intrested the whole time, kept my eyes glued to the page, always wondering what was going to happen next, right up until the last chapter or two. Loved the characters, very realistic, very relatable characters, takes you back to your younger days when everything was so carefree and fun! Makes you almost nostalgic.
But the ending lacked a lot for me, it just felt more like "oh, ok..", rather than the exciting climatic ending you would have expected or wanted from a book you were so excited to read, youread so fast thinking "oh man this is getting good, I can't wait to see what happens, who did it." Then it was just felt like a let down. which was a bummer, but maybe that was the point!? Gave it 5 stars anyway, I happened to be very busy the week I was reading it so for it to keep my attention the way it did was an achievement all in itself!"
