Life gets dangerous when a kid discovers a vampire at an illegal circus in this fast-paced and creepy-crawly tale from bestselling author and master of horror, Darren Shan. When Darren and his friends secretly score tickets to the terrifying Cirque Du Freak, they don’t expect the show to be as petrifying as the flier promised. If anything, it’s worse. A wonderfully eccentric cast of characters frightens the audience, but things get more insidious after the show when Darren oversees a confrontation that reveals one of the performers, Mr. Crepsley, is a real-life vampire. Instead of staying far away from the horrifying truths he’s unearthed, as if by destiny, Darren is pulled to Mr. Crepsley. What follows is a spine-chilling descent into the dark and bloody world of vampires—but these monsters aren’t like anything you’ve seen before. Get pulled into the nightmare in this first book of the fantastically bizarre and bestselling series Ciruqe Du Freak. NOT for the faint of heart.

"This book series sucks. Just go watch the movie, it is way better than the books. "

"The pacing seemed off, as I kept waiting for the climax of the book, and suddenly the book was over. I'm very glad that I can just pick up the next one and continue, but it did feel incomplete. I enjoyed the book very much, and just wish that there was more of it in one! Perhaps the best way to think of the book so as to not be disappointed in the set up of everything is to consider this part 1 of 3 of the first arc. If I had had to wait for the next book to come out, I likely would have dropped the series. I suppose that is one of the benefits of reading post-completion! Really looking forward to the second book, which I hope to binge read today."
