"A well thought out book that I'm still digesting since finishing a few weeks ago. The concept of the "monkey mind" really resonated with me. I felt there were a lot of helpful things in this book but it can be a little overwhelming because there is "homework" and the book encourages you to think about why certain things are important to you. However, just take the book in chapters and go at your own pace. Or read the chapters that you think will be the most helpful for your situation. I liked that this book's goal was to relieve anxiety but it goes beyond that, if you can use the tips properly, to change negative viewpoints and even become more productive."
"This is a relatively short book but I found it packed with a lot of useful information. I am an overthinker which causes my anxiety to worsen and to go down a negative spiral. He discusses the idea of "training" your brain to reframe a situation and see the positive side. It involves being aware of your thoughts and being able to separate yourself from them. Finding your trigger for negative thoughts is the best way to avoid it, or at the very least a time to distract yourself from your thoughts.

Several of the self-help/productivity books I've read lately have mentioned meditation as a way to help clear your mind and focus on the now. I had attempted meditation in the past but would like to make more of an effort to stick with it.

He discusses the figuring out what your core values are will help you gain control of your thoughts. I've not really put into words what my core values are, so it's something I need to explore. These then would shape your goals (which again, SMART goals are mentioned).

He also talks about how your environment plays a role on your mind--so a cluttered house is going to affect you. That one hit home since my messy home depresses me but I get overwhelmed at where to begin. That leads into what he considers the biggest focus killers--procrastination. I've struggled with that all my life as well. Pretty much this book hits on several of the issues I struggle with, so hopefully the exercises in the book will help."
