Richard Matheson
Like What Dreams May Come, which inspired the movie starring Robin Williams, Somewhere in Time is the powerful story of a love that transcends time and space, written by one of the Grand Masters of modern fantasy.Matheson's classic novel tells the moving, romantic story of a modern man whose love for a woman he has never met draws him back in time to a luxury hotel in San Diego in 1896, where he finds his soul mate in the form of a celebrated actress of the previous century. Somewhere in Time won the World Fantasy Award for Best Novel, and the 1979 movie version, starring Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour, remains a cult classic.

"It would be a stretch to say I liked this book. I was really more ambivalent to it, especially since the story itself was so ludicrous. I did love the setting though, which is why I picked it up in the first place. Iâm obsessed with old buildings, and I had the exquisite pleasure of visiting the Hotel del Coronado in person this weekend, and it was everything I hoped it would be and more. So it more than made up for the fact this book was really not my cup of tea."

"Technically not a true sci-fi book but more of a sci-fi romance, I enjoyed the premise, character development, and movie adaption, starring Jane Seymour and Christopher "Superman" Reeves. Maybe I'm a bit biased because I'm totally in love with Jane, and she has been my fantasy wife since the late 80s. We had our fantasy wedding in 2004, where Stacy Keach was the best man, by the way. If anybody frowns on fantasy marriages, I don't have a problem with it because I've always believed that the heart knows what the heart wants. Haters gonna hate. Jane Seymour loves pancakes."
