"Blaze is the story of Clayton Blaisdell, Jr., of the crimes committed against him and the crimes he commits, including his last, the kidnapping of a baby heir worth millions. Blaze has been a slow thinker since childhood, when his father threw him down the stairs, and then threw him down again. After escaping an abusive institution for boys when he was a teenager, Blaze hooks up with George, a seasoned criminal who thinks he has all the answers. But then George is killed, and Blaze, though haunted by his partner, is on his own."--Page 2 of jacket

"This is definately not a 'Stephen King' book.......it was technically written by 'Richard Backman'. Clayton Blaisdell, Jr. is a sympathetic character who was born into a crappy life.....because of his stark circumstances of being abused by his father as a child......he was robbed of being an intellectual and successful in his adult life. He is only a mildy retarded man who has never gotten a honest chance to have a good life and makes decisions based on past mistakes, the ghostly thoughts of his dead friend, George, and honestly just not knowing what else to do. He has a kind heart and is basically a good-natured person but falls in with the wrong crowd and they take advantage of that. The book is bittersweet and you truly feel for 'Blaze' and his situation and really hope that all will end well for him......does it?.....well......read the book for yourself and find out..... : )"
"As the story goes, King wrote this book back in the 70s but didn't release it until 2007 as a Bachman book. It's an alright story, but to me, some of his other Bachman books, such as The Long Walk, blow it out of the water. It didn't have a lot to draw me in and overall I wasn't a huge fan. Excited to move on to the next one."
