"4.5. This fast-paced horror with clever pop culture references was right up my alley. Noelle, the main character, hosts a horror movie club to build excitement for her podcast, but things turn deadly when the clown she hires starts killing her guests. The slasher plot kicks off immediately, which I loved, and features a diverse cast of flawed characters along with a smart, vengeful villain. Themes of privilege, racism, and classism add depth against a Halloween backdrop set in Noelle’s stormy mansion. Though the humor wasn’t as sharp as expected, I found myself genuinely spooked and fully engaged. Perfect for fans of Joelle Wellington’s The Blonde Dies First and horror with social commentary."

"⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.75 I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK!! I thought the pace was great, all the killings were graphic enough but not too gory (I’m very skiddish when it comes to gore). All the killings were very interesting to read too, I never really knew what was going to happen next. I did like the cute little romance in the story, and I couldn’t guess the killer which is always fun. I enjoyed all the nods of social justice, capitalism and how much of that was included. The ending was a very cliche end, although I still enjoyed it. More of a FYI. I will say I didn’t like the pooping in the bag? I guess it was to show that it was personal? It was a small section and easy for me to ignore haha. Since it is a short book, there isn’t much character building which was fine for me in this particular story, there’s no way I will truly relate to rich teens. All in all, this probably a book I’ll read every October! "
"overall, i liked it. the plot was pretty interesting, deaths were veryy creative and descriptive. fun and quick read. you know when books are written by an adult from the point of view of a teenager, and so the adult will write well until every ten pages they remember “oh wait, this is a teenager speaking!” so they just throw a bunch of slang into one sentence? yeah, that’s something i didn’t like about this book. plot twist was unexpected, but not in the sense like “no wayy!!!!” more in the sense of “where did he come from? huh? alright i guess.” so i didn’t love the reveal either — motive was the most unoriginal and boring thing ever. also, this probably was just me, but the romance between archer and noelle made me cringe SO hard EVERY SINGLE TIME. felt soooo forced and i could not sense any chemistry between them at all. i did like how it jumped straight into the gore and action though. so upset, i really wanted to love this!!!!!! anyway, overall i would recommend reading it if you’re bored and have nothing else to read, because it is enjoyable. but if you’re on your death bed and thinking “i just wish i could read one more book.” maybe don’t choose this one."
