"This book was just ok. It sent you on a wild chase to find out about the death of her husband while deep in the throws of postpartum. I tried to sympathize with the main character, Clara, but I had trouble since the storyline was a bit flimsy, characters were not well built and some situations just did not seem believable. I have read others by this author but was not really at all impressed with the style of writing in this book."
"Felt like the ending was a real let down"

"I adore Mary Kubica, she is one author that I will read anything she writes and love it. This one definitely had a different vibe than her previous books since I feel like the others have had more of a bait and switch quality, where this one seemed straight forward in the sense that you just had no idea what was really going on. It actually reminded me of The Husband's Secret (also fabulous), since I got a similar feeling of the whole "how well do you know your spouse" question, though I feel like this book had more of a slow reveal that gradually deepened over time. I loved the use of the 4-year-old as a witness, and the questions that come up, like can you really rely on what a little kid is saying? I loved the conclusion, and I can't wait to see what Mary Kubica writes next!"
