"This was better than I was expecting! I'm always excited for a sibling story, and this one did not disappoint. Watching siblings drift apart was just so entertaining. I'm sure I could "pick a side" if asked, but I think this book was written well enough that there isn't a clear side. I saw it as a story more about how the push and pull of circumstance can place people at odds with each other, even when both believe themselves to be acting in everyone's best interest. Then, there was every layer of foreshadowing! It isn't often that I get to enjoy putting all the pieces of a puzzle together and still be so shocked and anxious at the end. But as much as I enjoyed this book, I have to say it probably isn't for everyone. This book really felt like set up for the next book and doesn't shine as its own novel until the very end. I can see it being tough to get into, but I think the beauty of Powers writing style and imagination is worth reading."
