From the acclaimed author of Lies We Tell Ourselves, Robin Talley, comes a Shakespeare-inspired story of revenge and redemption, where fair is foul, and foul is fair.Maria Lyon and Lily Boiten are their school’s ultimate power couple—but one thing stands between them and their perfect future: campus superstar Delilah Dufrey. Golden child Delilah is a legend at exclusive Acheron Academy, and the presumptive winner of the distinguished Cawdor Kingsley Prize. But Delilah doesn’t know that Lily and Maria are willing to do anything—absolutely anything—to unseat Delilah for the scholarship. After all, it would lock in Maria’s attendance at Stanford—and assure her and Lily four more years in a shared dorm room.Together, Maria and Lily harness the dark power long rumored to be present on the former plantation that houses their school. But when feuds turn to fatalities, and madness begins to blur the distinction between what’s real and what’s imagined, the girls must attempt to put a stop to the chilling series of events they’ve accidentally set in motion.

"I did like this book, but I never became very attached to the story or it's characters. The story felt like it dragged on for too long and I wish we got to know more about the main characters, so we could of sympathized with them more. There were two sets of gay couples, which was nice to see, but definitely was not a big thing in the book, although I feel like it was meant to be a big thing. The lesbian relationship honestly confused me, because I couldn't see how they liked each other whatsoever, even though they kept saying how in love they were. Potential Triggers: mild very occasional gore, ghosts, very occasional talks of slavery and racism, very occasional talks of homophobia, manipulation, betrayal, murder, death. Do not expect: A lot of romance, detailed background stories, loveable characters. I would rate this book 5/10, it was a basic read and I personally wouldn't read it again."
"This is a YA retelling of Macbeth set in a prestigious private high school. I was really impressed with the ways that the author managed to tie Macbeth into the modern-day setting (though naming the football field Dunsinane was a bit much), and some of the scares with the ghosts were great.

However, most of the characters were pretty shallow (they definitely felt like identities first and characters second), the plantation stuff felt unnecessary since nothing was ever really done with it, and the ending was kind of silly. Also, this may be shallow but the main character Maria was called "Ree" by all her friends and it really annoyed me. What kind of nickname is that? Who would use that to shorten Maria??"
