As she joins forces with Robin and his Merry Men in a final battle against the Wolf, will Isabelle find the strength to defy the crown and save the lives of everyone she holds dear?In Hood, author Jenny Elder Moke reimagines the world of Robin Hood in lush, historical detail and imbues her story with more breathless action than has ever come out of Sherwood Forest before. "I was glad that it wasn’t just a “Girl version of Robin Hood” story. It had its own charm and its own plot. I liked the book quite a bit, but I was a little sad at the ending. It wasn’t a bad ending, it’s not what I would have done with it, but that’s fine it just caught me a little off guard."
"There was so much about this retelling that I loved. Marian is a strong and skilled fighter in her own right, Robin is as clever and merry an imp as could be hoped for, and the tale is full of action, tragedy, mirth, adventure and romance, just as any good Robin Hood story should be. The only pitfall I found with this retelling was with Isabelle, our main character and daughter to Robin and Marian. At times her character was rather frustrating to read. She constantly flip flops between being brazen and cunning like her father and mother, and then completely meek and fearful... That really didn’t change as the story progressed as I had hoped. I wanted to see Isabelle grow, but overall, she really never changed all that much. Other than that, this is a very enjoyable retelling!"
"I didn't hate this, but it wasn't the best book ever either. Personally I feel like it was slow in some places and very fast in others but it still got the story across. I think at the end things proceeded very quickly and everything ended pretty suddenly. I liked the book, just not as much as I thought I was going to."
