Any classic books you want to read before the year is over? I think mine is Jane Eyre.

To anyone who is familiar with the Count of Monte Cristo, is there a strong need to read the full version over the abridged (which is still like 400 pages)? I read the abridged back in middle school but don’t remember a ton and would like a reread, but I’m wondering if I should just commit to the full version or not. TIA!

I finally have the motivation to make something…if you could have a cutting board (or a charcuterie board) with with a mermaid on it, what books should she read? And what should I have things coming out of the books? Like should I have a squid for “10,000 leagues under the sea?” Or a coffee for Starbucks, the first mate in Moby Dick? Or is that doing too much?

I notice now to leave a written review you have to first leave a star rating, which I find annoying. Also dating reviews is not my favorite since half the time I have no idea when I finished a book. None of this is conductive to a discussion post, but I don’t know where the suggestion box for my complaints is, so I’ll just shout to the sky here.

For anybody who has read this, is the entirety like the first part? I dnf after the first bit once it started talking about hanging. I'm wondering if it's worth finishing after all.

Just finished this book this week. Read a portion of it when I was younger for school and watched the movie and have wanted to read it for a long time. Found it for a good price on eBay and so glad I got it! It was a quick and fun read bought back some memories. Recommend for everyone especially those that deal with children and wonder what kind of impact you have on their lives.

I just finished The Catcher in The Rye and really loved it so I came online to discuss it, only to find that so many people disliked and even hated this book. I know Holden is an unlikable and sort of in-the-grey character, but wasn’t that the whole point? He had reasons for his behaviors, and I don’t understand how anyone could ignore those and look at him like he’s nothing more than a two-dimensional annoying character. I’m curious to hear other’s takes on it.
