"This is a meta-slasher set in a world where all our favorite slasher villains exist, and follows an up-and-coming mass murderer as he prepares to make his first appearance. In a twist, he's invited a documentary crew to film everything. Dives into the tropes and symbolism of the genre, as well as some of the speculative reasons for the existence of it. "
"To use the Barbie movie ad campaign....if you love slasher movies, you have to see this....if you HATE slasher movies, you have to see this. I tend to not love slasher movies (with some exceptions) because to me they are like a drawn out franchise with no new ideas. (Looking at you Fast & Furious ๐๏ธ๐๏ธ, my god, in F9 you took a Pontiac Fiero into space using duct tape, so unless your next movies have magic, time travel, or dragons ๐ฒ, you've done it all). Anywho, in a world where Freddy, Jason, and Mike exist, Leslie Vernon is a killer in training. The first hour is a full blown documentary following Leslie as he gets ready for his first killing spree. It's funny as he breaks down what he's doing and basically makes fun of all the slasher tropes in all the movies ever made. Things like he needs to find a virgin to be the "final girl", and why killers don't pull victims out of the closet because they are a "sacred" space. And even he doesn't understand why they don't just break the window if it's nailed shut ๐. But then, after about an hour it goes from documentary to a full blown slasher movie that actually has a plot twist that is genius. It's not gore heavy like the Terrifier movies, just the normal throat slitting and brutal stabbings๐ช๐ฑ๐ฉธ๐ฉธ๐. You even get Robert Englund himself playing the wise man who helps the final girl, or an Ishmael as they call him. This was a terrific surprise that I enjoyed from start to finish that I only wish I watched sooner. Also, check out the other reviews, they are all also quite positive as well. Easy 4/5 for me."
