"Nevermore has a film embodied it's short IMDB plot summary more than Mystery Train. "Three stories taking place in one night are all connected by a Memphis hotel and the spirit of Elvis Presley."
There is nothing more to it than that. The film is beautifully shot and perfectly stylized and paced, but the story itself is very slow. For a film about Memphis and Rock N Roll (Screamin' Jay Hawkins is a main character!), I think it could've benefited greatly by using a little bit of the ground-breaking music the town is built on during the many scenes with sparse dialogue."
"I can watch this film over and over. Jim Jarmusch captures the cross-cultural allure of Elvis as two Japanese teens visit Memphis. "
