When twelve-year-old Donn Fendler gets tired of waiting for his father and brothers to join him on the summit of Maine's highest peak, he decides to find his own way back to camp. But Donn doesn't count on a fast-moving fog that obscures the path. He doesn't count on falling down an embankment that hides him from sight. And he doesn't count on taking a turn that leaves him alone to wander aimlessly for nearly two weeks in the empty mountain wilderness.

"I do enjoy movies such as this that take place in the wilderness, getting lost, and struggling for survival, and this did not disappoint. All in all, I felt this movie had a "realistic" feel to it both visually as well as with the great sound effects. A good portion of it did seem rather gloomy/dark (which I think contributed to the ambiance, making this movie seem more realistic, yet I could still see what was going on). It's a true story and focused on this young boy as well as the broken relationship with his father. It takes place in 1939 northern Maine, the area of Mt. Katahdin. Every once in a while, the movie was interspersed with short appearances by some of the actual people involved during this time, who described what it had been like then. This movie is based on the book, found on Amazon. The movie and audiobook are found on the free library app, Hoopla, at this time."
