"I finally watched this remake of the original, and, although I greatly respect all the actors in this movie, it lacks some of the balanced cast acting of the original. Some actors are overused, and others are underused. Jack Lemmon steps into the role that Henry Fonda made famous as the lone man who believes that the tried man is innocent. George C. Scott is as always impressive and steals a lot of scenes. Mykelti Williamson is absolutely amazing but shocking as a tone deaf racist. Tony Danza is able to stretch his acting muscles, and is very good as a quick-tempered man, and Hume Cronyn stands out as a soft-spoken man. However, I felt that Ossie Davis, and Dorian Harewood were grossly underused, and Edward James Olmos should have had more screen time. If you don't know already, the plot is about 12 men in a jury room, there to decide whether a man is guilty of murdering his father. During the course of the conversation, feelings turn raw, hatreds bubble to the surface, and disrespect abounds, and all the while, the jury foreman and others try to keep some amount of peace. This movie shows a raw cross-section of people showing how they think and feel about one another. I definitely believe that the viewer should make the choice: like both films, or either one. But as for me, the original movie is better balanced in every way."
"Unbelievably-incredible ensemble cast with compelling performances by all. This is the William Friedkin remake of the 1957 Sidney Lumet classic, which was itself a remake of the 1954 tv play. This drama shows the 12-man jury trying to decide the verdict in a homicide case & thus the fate of one man. I actually preferred this version, but both are excellent. Jack Lemmon, George C. Scott, Ossie Davis, James Gandolfini, Tony Danza, Courtney Vance, William Petersen & more are featured."
