"I had a lot of fun with this solid first-date-gone-wrong thriller. I didn't immediately guess the bad guy, the main characters were likeable, there were a few minor plot twists that kept the story moving nicely. The main character was also pretty smart and handled herself well, so I didn't feel like this movie was too heavily ridiculous. Brandon Sklenar is obviously gorgeous in this, but I will say that his character is surprisingly unphased and loyal to a woman who seems a bit crazy to normal people. But, nonetheless, this is a fun movie. You get a little mystery, a little eye candy, a few somewhat weird/funny moments. At the very least, this might help you get some Sklenar if you've just finished watching 1923."
"I honestly can’t say that it was terrible. I’m not really a fan of movies/songs that are too modern (as in too much reliant on today’s technology) it has that Scream logic where realistically you would just turn your airdrop off after the first message - but she just keeps answering & checking - I would say that main character held her own"
"Violet is a therapist who just got out of a violent relationship a year ago. She has a 1st date planned for that evening. Her sister comes over to babysit her son and she goes to the restaurant. She arrives before her date and takes a seat at the bar. She suddenly starts to get these anonymous drop messages. She continues to ignore them after her date arrives until one of the messages uses her name and tells her to check the cameras at home. There isa masked man there that will hurt her family if you doesn't do exactly what they say. One of the directives is to kill her date. I really appreciate the way they set this up without too much filler. Since the drops have to come in close proximity, we are on the lookout for who it might be as she is trying to follow the instructions. The situation does get tense, and you are on the edge waiting to see how it plays out. They do kind of give it away if you pay attention. So, the mystery of who was behind it wasn't there for me. They also do the typical plot armor stuff where the professional killers don't do their jobs properly. Overall, this was a very solid thriller that is worth watching. "loved this, very 90s style action thriller staring Meghann Fahy & handsome even w/ a beard Brandon Sklenar. This tapped into real digital age fears. It had tech fuelled paranoia but started to lag a bit due to the fact that everything takes place in the restaurant , imo. The different angle shots very reminiscent of old hollywood was stellar. My only bone to pick was the excessive violence towards the women, kicks to the head, stabs in the back etc was over the top & unnecessary, lol. Over all good time watching. If ur a fan of thrillers Drop is a blast 5/5"
"This is about a woman who's being surveilled and coerced into targeting a specific person, played by Brandon Sklenar. As the story unfolds, it becomes clear that there's more to the situation than meets the eye, but the execution didn't quite live up to the premise for me.
The whole surveillance theme is really interesting, and Meghann Fahy does a great job of conveying the tension and fear. You really feel for her character & the desperation she's in. But the pacing was just all over the place. Some scenes were super intense, others felt like they dragged on forever.
And I couldn't help but feel that Brandon Sklenar's character was just kind of... there. Like, what's his deal? Why is this happening? It felt like they didn't really develop him at all, which made it hard to get invested in the plot. The coercion aspect was also kind of glossed over. I didn't really get why she was being forced to do what she was doing, or what the ultimate goal was.
The plot holes were everywhere, and it was hard to keep track of what was going on. It felt like they didn't really think through the logic of the story, and it showed. And the ending was just awful. It felt like they tried to cram in a bunch of plot twists without really tying everything up in a satisfying way. I was left with more questions than answers, and some of the reveals felt pretty convenient. Maybe just needed a bit more attention to detail? 6/10"
