"At first glance Poolhall Junkies seems like just a cocky vanity piece from writer/director Mars Callahan, who gave himself the lead role. I can't put my finger on it, but there's something very unlikeable about him. The dialogue is mostly written in such an amateur way that you would think it was done by someone in high school. But the saving grace is that Mars Callahan was somehow able to surround himself with an amazing cast, including Chazz Palminteri, Christopher Walken, Ricky Schroder, Rod Steiger, and Alison Eastwood. So the end result is a fairly decent pool hustlers movie that isn't as bad as I initially thought. 6.5/10"
