Encounters with strangers and unsavory people weaken the barriers encompassing his long-suppressed rage, until Edmond explodes in violence.

"I'm still chewing on this, deciding whether i like it or not. There are some dark comedic aspects, the main character is a bit stuck in his head and going on a journey from bad to (albeit "authentic") worse in his life situations. From that perspective it makes me think of Dostoevsky characters (I've been on a Dostoevsky kick lately) so i could say that i like it. I can relate to some parts and the acting and directing were good. With that said, it almost gives the idea that someone can be driven to psychopathy by the mundeity of life or that a person should shed the absurd including political correctness and sociatal restraints in favour of merging entirely with their shadow self as "authentic" vs finding a balance, all of which I'm a little at odds with. I also didn't like any of the characters in a positive sense, none really had good qualities (though that may be the point)... So after my rambling, i can't say whether i like it but still recommend it to see what others' thoughts are."
"I recently discovered that this movie was written by David Mamet, although I don't know if it's based on a previously written work or if Mamet just wrote the screenplay."
